The Discovery Trail
Atoms to artifacts, foxes to fossils, robins to rhododendrons, sculpture to storytellers - Ithaca's Discovery Trail has something for everyone!

From peaceful walks to famous talks, from hands-on fun to genealogical research, there's so much to see and do along the Discovery Trail. These eight fascinating sites are an easy drive from downtown Ithaca, Cornell University, Ithaca College, Cayuga Lake and other Finger Lakes attractions.

The Discovery Trail Partnership is a group of educational organizations based in Ithaca, NY. The only organization of its kind, the Discovery Trail promotes awareness and understanding of the connections among art, history, literature, science, and the natural world.

The Greater Ithaca Art Trail is part of the larger, rich cultural landscape of Upstate New York. You’ll find painters, photographers, sculptors, printmakers, ceramic artists, furniture designers, jewelers and glass artists. The Ithaca and Tompkins County, New York area is packed with talent.
The Wine Trails
Cayuga Lake
1981 - Mary Plane, of Plane's Cayuga Vineyards (now called Cayuga Ridge), looked at her empty parking lot and knew, if her fledgling winery was to succeed, she needed to fill it. What could she do to entice people to visit? Would people come if there were more to do, more to see? Thus began Mary's vision of the Cayuga Wine Trail. And, Mary was right!

In 1983 there were five small new wineries: Plane's (Cayuga Ridge), Lucas, Americana, Lakeshore and Frontenac. But five unknown wineries weren't enough of a draw, and Mary solicited participation from other attractions along and near Route 89.
